Once again, King Charles III finds himself in the public eye, after making an appearance at the local church and greeting the public.

The British monarch attended Sunday services for the first time since being diagnosed with cancer, according to The Associated Press.

Confirming suspicions that he is doing well, he waved cheerfully as he left the parish church that has regularly served as a place of worship for the royal family.

Charles and Queen Camilla attended St. Mary Magdalene Church, near Sandringham House in eastern England.

Sandringham House is a key location as it is the place where King Charles spent his recovery after his prostate treatment.

The estate, about 110 miles north of London, offers the monarch a place of refuge where he can isolate himself from the risk of infection.

His appearance came a day after he said he was grateful for the messages of support he has received from the public, the AP said.

The images that went viral show a calm Charles in the company of his wife, talking for a few minutes with the community priest.

The king’s first outing?

Buckingham Palace announced the diagnosis on Monday, February 5, through a press release accompanied with a photo of the king.

Shortly after, King Charles was seen on Tuesday leaving his home at Clarence House in London after beginning his treatment.

However, it was announced that he would be recuperating at Sandringham, the private home of the last six British monarchs, the AP stated.

This property is located among green areas, gardens and working farms. It has been owned by the royal family since 1862.

King Charles expresses thanks for supportive messages

The appearance came a day after he expressed thanks for the messages of support he has received from the public.

In a statement issued Saturday night, the monarch said those thoughts are «the greatest comfort and encouragement.»

«It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding,» the monarch explained.

He added that he’s happy to»shine a light on the work of all those organizations that support cancer patients and their families across the UK and the world as a whole.»

Likewise, he stated that if he previously felt proud, he was now more so because he could understand how people going cancer treatment feel.

«My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience,» the king stated, according to the AP.

Although he made his diagnosis public, he has not disclosed the type of cancer or the treatment he is undergoing.

At the moment, the royal family is waiting to find out the king’s prognosis.
