An armed attack left three dead and eight wounded in León, Guanajuato, on the night of Friday, November 1.
The incident took place during a celebration dedicated to ‘La Santa Muerte,’ a figure widely revered by devotees in Mexico.
This tragic event led to the death of Rosario, better known in the community as «La Madrina Chayo» or «La Chayito.»
Rosario had earned respect locally for her esoteric practices and deep devotion to ‘La Niña Blanca.’
Shooting Breaks Out at La Santa Muerte Celebration

The incident occurred in the Flores Magón neighborhood, where followers of ‘La Santa Muerte’ gather annually to honor this controversial figure.
Shortly after 6 p.m. (Mexico time), a group of armed men burst into the gathering and opened fire on the attendees.

The shooting resulted in the deaths of «La Chayito,» another woman, and a minor, according to reports from The Associated Press.
Eight others, including two minors, were severely injured in the violent attack; the assailants managed to flee the scene.
Authorities secured the area, deploying Municipal Police, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army.
Witnesses reported that some of the injured were transported to nearby hospitals by their relatives.
While others awaited emergency services, as reported by Periódico AM.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) arrived to collect evidence.
They interviewed the wounded and their families to gather information on the attackers and potential motives.
The identities of the other victims remain undisclosed as investigations continue.
According to sources close to the investigation, Rosario had received death threats in recent weeks.
These threats had intensified after the murder of her partner, raising concerns about her safety.
Despite these warnings, «La Chayito» proceeded with preparations for the annual celebration in honor of her protective saint.
However, her devotion wasn’t enough to shield «La Madrina Chayo» from the violence that struck during her own celebration.
Authorities have withheld information about the assailants, who remain at large.
The investigation into this crime is ongoing, and the Prosecutor’s Office has called on the public to provide any information that may assist in identifying the perpetrators.
