Famous Mexican Actress Denounces Discrimination in Texas: “They Wanted to Call ICE on Us”

Mexican actress and comedian Liliana Arriaga Franco, best known for her character “La Chupitos”, reported that she was a victim of discrimination and threats during her stay at a hotel in Texas, United States.
Through her social media accounts, the artist recounted that while staying with her family, a hotel employee insulted her and even threatened to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The incident — partially recorded on video and shared on Instagram — quickly went viral, drawing widespread outrage from her followers, who demanded a public apology from the establishment.
“Thank God I have my papers, but why do people like that still exist? They’re not happy, and they don’t let others be happy either,” said the visibly upset comedian.
A Family Trip Turned Into a Nightmare
According to Arriaga’s account, the incident occurred when she requested a few extra minutes to pack her belongings before checking out.
The employee, upset by the delay, began yelling and even threatened to contact immigration authorities. “We got staff that wanted to call ICE on us,” said La Chupitos in one of the shared clips.

In the video, two women wearing hotel uniforms can be seen, with one shouting in English: “Shut up! I’m going to call ICE!”
“We only asked her to wait a moment, but she knocked on the door very aggressively. If you’re in Corpus Christi, don’t stay at this hotel,” the Mexican actress warned her followers.

The video spread rapidly online, generating an outpouring of support for La Chupitos, who remained calm despite the hostility of the moment.
The 55-year-old actress explained that both she and her companions have all their documents in order, making the incident even more offensive.
“They treated us like we were doing something wrong just for asking for a few more minutes. I can’t believe people like that still exist,” she wrote in another post.
As of now, the hotel involved has not issued a public statement or apology for what happened.

Liliana Arriaga is a beloved Mexican actress, TV host, and comedian with over three decades in entertainment.
Born on March 3, 1970, she rose to fame in the 1990s with her character La Chupitos — a scruffy, humorous woman who became an icon of Mexican television, according to El Financiero.
She has appeared in popular shows such as La Hora Pico, Otro Rollo, Sabadazo, and La Casa de la Risa, cementing her status as one of Mexico’s most popular comedy figures.
Married for over 20 years to Tizoc Valencia, the actress urged her followers “not to stay silent” in the face of discrimination. “Please share — #Racism,” La Chupitos wrote on Instagram, hoping to shed light on the incident and call for respect for all Latinos experiencing similar situations of discrimination in Texas.
