The dairy company HP Hood has voluntarily recalled its Lactaid lactose-free milk in 27 U.S. states.
The recall is due to possible exposure of the milk to almonds, according to the company and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The milk may contain traces of almonds that are not listed on the label.
This could pose a risk for individuals with severe allergies or sensitivities to almonds.
Risk of Severe Allergic Reactions in Lactaid Milk Products

The FDA warned that these individuals could experience severe or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions.
The recall includes 96-ounce containers of whole, 1%, 2%, fat-free, and calcium-enriched Lactaid milk.
These products were distributed between September 5 and 18.
The issue was discovered during a routine maintenance program that revealed small amounts of almonds.
