The Laken Riley Act was the first law signed by President Donald Trump during his second term.
The legislation aims to strengthen measures to detain undocumented immigrants with criminal records.
The law is named after Laken Riley, a nursing student who was murdered in February 2024 by an undocumented immigrant.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and more arrests may take place in the coming days.
