Suspect accused of murdering a man he met on a dating app in Florida

An encounter with someone he met through a dating app ended with Robert O’Connor’s murder after they had sex at his home in Tampa, Florida.

As court documents reveal, O’Connor’s guest refused to leave his home after the intimate encounter.

This started a fight that ended in his brutal murder.

O’Connor’s friends became worried when he hadn’t contacted anyone for several days and went to check on him. They walked in on a nightmare scenario and immediately called 911.

Police responded to the victim’s home at 2712 E. Okara Road, in Tampa, Florida and found a grizzly scene.

A foul smell indicated something was terribly wrong, there was blood splattered throughout the main hallways that led to two places — a bedroom and under the living room couch.

At first, the police thought it was a double homicide, because they found two bodies.

It took a matter of minutes to confirm that the man under the couch was still breathing.

The murder was caught on security video

Robert O’Connor’s lifeless body was wrapped in sheets in his bedroom, while the killer was still hiding inside the house.

The homicide, according to the authorities, was recorded by the security cameras inside the home, which allowed them to immediately identify the suspected killer.

The Tampa Police arrested Lázaro Basilio Martínez Rojas and charged him with murder.

Martinez is being held without bond at the Hillsborough County Jail.

Martinez faces serious charges

According to prison records, he faces first-degree murder charges in the death of Robert O’Connor.

The video obtained from the home shows that the victim was strangled by his attacker who then dragged him into another room, while carrying a large kitchen knife.

Martínez has not spoken about what happened.

«The video shows Martínez and the victim together inside the residence and it appears that they may have engaged in off-camera sexual activity with each other,» details court records.
