This commemoration traces its origins to the Stonewall Riots that occurred in New York City in 1969, marking the beginning of the gay rights movement.

However, the LGBT+ community still faces discrimination, intolerance and violence due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The International Day of LGBT+ Pride, also known as Gay Pride Day, is celebrated annually on June 28 worldwide.

This day is an opportunity to reaffirm identities and sexual orientations that have historically been marginalized and suppressed by society.

Support for the entire community

It’s important to highlight dates on the LGBT+ calendar such as November 16, which is  International Day for Tolerance, aimed at fostering respect among people.

Similarly, November 20 is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a tribute to all transgender individuals who have lost their lives due to their sexual identity.

Every October 11 marks National Coming Out Day, aimed at raising awareness about this difficult process.

The third Wednesday of October is International Pronouns Day, designed to promote respect and educate people about the proper use of personal pronouns.

Write down these dates!

Mark your calendar for September 23, which is International Celebrate Bisexuality Day, a day that promotes tolerance.

May 17 is also significant, as it is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
