A performance at a bar in Bogotá ended in tragedy when a man identified as Luis Mendivelso died following an assault.

Local media reported that the victim was singing and dedicated a melody to one of the attendees.

Luis Mendivelso met a tragic end after dedicating a song to a young woman during his performance in a Colombian bar.

The moment when the alleged boyfriend of a young woman decided to stab him, following the dedication of the song to the woman, went viral on social networks.

In the initial moments of the video, the singer, adorned in a cowboy hat and a jacket with ruffles, can be seen performing.

Shortly thereafter, a man approached the performer with a threatening demeanor and shoved him against the wall, seemingly unbothered by the public setting.

Luis Mendivelso murdered

Bar patrons attempted to assist the singer and remove the man, identified as Miguel Rangel, 27, due to his persistent assault on the performer.

Rangel strangled the singer, who was trying to defend himself from the attacks, while onlookers watched the horrifying scene unfold.

Local media reported that the assault was initiated due to the song being dedicated to Rangel’s girlfriend, and he did not hesitate to stab the performer.

The musician’s ‘mistake’ was to place his arm around the woman while dedicating a melody to her, an action that seemingly sent the assailant into a rage.

How was the attack?

According to the Daily Mail, it’s reported that bar patrons managed to separate the two men and Rangel left the venue, allowing the singer some respite.

However, the situation escalated when the woman’s boyfriend returned to the scene with two additional men, and they didn’t hesitate to pursue Luis Mendivelso.

They succeeded in stabbing him twice before fleeing the scene, leaving him lying there. Swiftly after, bystanders rushed to assist him.

He was urgently transported to Vista Hermosa Hospital, where doctors attempted to save his life, but he was ultimately declared dead.

«He wanted to be a great singer»

In light of the tragic events, it was the singer’s son who broke the silence and spoke out about the harrowing incident the family has endured.

«My dad always wanted to be a great singer; he aimed to release his albums and gain recognition,» expressed Mendivelso’s son, as cited by the Daily Mail.

The media outlet highlighted that Luis Felipe Mendivelso is survived by five children and his wife, all of whom are calling for justice in light of the circumstances.

In a related development, it was announced that Miguel Rangel, along with his two accomplices, has been arrested, and Colombian authorities are currently investigating the events.
