The Government of Mexico handed over this Tuesday to US authorities 26 individuals imprisoned in various penitentiary centers in the country.
In compliance with extradition orders for crimes related to drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) reported that the transfer was carried out under strict institutional protocols.
Ensuring respect for fundamental rights and due process.

The inmates were requested by the US Department of Justice, which committed to not applying the death penalty in their cases.
Mexican authorities stressed that this handover is part of cooperation and reciprocity efforts between both countries, within a framework of respect for sovereignty.
“It is carried out under institutional protocols and in adherence to our Constitution and the National Security Law,” they emphasized in a joint statement.

This action adds to the one carried out in February, when Mexico extradited 29 people, including high-profile figures such as Rafael Caro Quintero, leader of the Guadalajara Cartel, and former Los Zetas leaders Miguel Ángel and Omar Treviño Morales.
In both cases, the Mexican government has highlighted coordination with US authorities.
This, in order to combat transnational organized crime.
