Just days after Miss USA, Noelia Voigt, resigned from her title, now Miss Teen USA, UmaSofía Srivastava, has done the same, as reported by the EFE news agency.

Controversy arises as the young woman apparently reported bullying and mistreatment by those in charge of the organization.

While Noelia Voigt stated that she was relinquishing her title to prioritize her mental health, young UmaSofía Srivastava claimed alleged mistreatment.

Resigns her Miss Teen USA title

The girl who won her title in September 2023 in Nevada, wrote on her Instagram account about the decision she made.

«My personal values no longer fully align with the organization’s direction,» implying issues within it.

And she continued: «After months of dealing with this situation, I made the decision to resign from the title of Miss Teen USA 2023,» added the 17-year-old Srivastava.

It is worth noting that the young woman was the first woman with Mexican and Hindu roots to win the title of Miss Teen USA.

What plans does the young woman have now?

While young UmaSofía Srivastava stated that she would focus on finishing high school and preparing for the college application process, the organization issued another statement.

In response to the resignations of Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, the organization asserted that it would readjust its structure and standards.

Furthermore, they claimed that the well-being of the winners is their «utmost priority,» although this differs from the reasons given by the girls.

Sources close to her assured that the pressure they placed on her was too much and not «in a good way.»

Before the resignation of Miss Teen USA, Venezuelan-American Noelia Voigt, 24, named Miss USA, also stepped down.

She cited the following reasons: «In life, I truly value the importance of making decisions that are best for oneself and for one’s mental health.»

«As individuals, we grow through experiencing different things that lead us to know ourselves better. Never compromise your physical and mental well-being. Our health is our wealth,» she emphasized.

But it wasn’t just these two significant departures; Claudia Michelle, who was the organization’s social media director, also resigned.
