Moringa Powder Pulled From Sam’s Club and Walmart After Nationwide Salmonella Outbreak

A multi-state Salmonella outbreak prompted the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to order the immediate recall of several moringa powder products sold at stores such as Sam’s Club, Walmart, and through multiple online platforms.

Health authorities confirmed that all infections are tied to a single contaminated batch from Vallon Farmdirect PVT LTD, based in Jodhpur, India.

The implicated lot, identified as VFD/ORG/MORP/L/24 and expiring in November 2027, was distributed to several U.S. companies that later used it in superfood blends and dietary supplements.

The contamination triggered a nationwide recall affecting both retail and wholesale distributors.

Chain of contaminated products continues to grow

On November 12, 2025, Food To Live recalled all products made with the contaminated batch.

Among the affected items are 8-ounce to 44-pound bags of its Organic Moringa Leaf Powder, as well as multiple versions of its Organic Super Veggie Powder Blend.

The recalled lot codes range from SO-69006 to SO-72558, showing the wide distribution of the contaminated ingredient. In addition, Africa Imports recalled its 1-kilogram package sold after June 5, 2025.

The recall also includes the complete removal of Member’s Mark Super Greens, sold in all Sam’s Club stores nationwide and on its online platform. The FDA warned that the list of affected products and retailers may expand as the investigation progresses.

Active FDA investigation

Authorities continue tracing the exact point of contamination within the supplier’s production process.

The goal is to determine when the lot became compromised and which other companies may have received the same contaminated moringa powder.

The FDA stated it will update public information as the investigation evolves and additional products tied to the compromised batch are identified. The outbreak remains active, and federal agencies are working closely with state and local authorities.

The recalled moringa powder was widely distributed through physical stores, e-commerce, and wholesale channels. Affected points of sale include Amazon, Walmart.com, Target, Etsy, eBay, and the official Food To Live website.

Health risks of the Salmonella outbreak and recommendations

According to the FDA, Salmonella infection typically appears 12 to 72 hours after consuming a contaminated product.
Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, which can last up to a week.

Young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of severe complications. Authorities recommend seeking immediate medical attention if recalled products were consumed and symptoms of Salmonella appear.

Retailers must remove any presentation linked to lot VFD/ORG/MORP/L/24. The FDA also urges consumers and distributors to thoroughly disinfect any surface that may have come into contact with the affected products.

Instructions include discarding or returning recalled items to the point of purchase and avoiding any consumption. The risk of cross-contamination increases if containers or utensils used with the product are not properly cleaned. The investigation continues as health authorities evaluate whether the batch may have reached additional retailers.
