Ford announced this Tuesday a price reduction for its electric vehicle (EV) Mustang Mach-E of up to $8,100.

This comes after the car stopped receiving a tax credit in January from the tax authorities, as reported by Efe.

The loss of the tax credit, which can be up to $7,500, is affecting the vehicle’s sales.

In January, Ford delivered 1,295 units of the Mustang Mach-E, 50.7% less than the same month in 2023.

To recover sales, Ford lowered the price of the basic model of the Mustang Mach-E by $3,100, leaving its cost now at $39,895.

The reduction of the Premium version of the vehicle is $8,100 ($48,895), according to information from Efe.

The Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition, the most expensive version, has a discount of $7,600, reducing its price to $57,395.

They stop receiving tax credits

On the other hand, the Ford Mustang Mach-E was one of dozens of EVs that stopped receiving tax credits on January 1.

This is because a significant proportion of its components are not produced in North America.

On February 9, the small electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian also announced that it will offer cheaper versions of its two vehicles.

Other electric vehicle manufacturers, such as Tesla, have also reduced prices to stimulate demand.
