A little over seven years ago, on June 12, 2016, a terrible massacre took place at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

On that occasion, 49 people were killed and an additional 53 individuals were wounded. Just a couple of weeks later, Gay Pride would be celebrated.

The perpetrator of this heinous act was Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, who was shot and killed by the police. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.

Now it’s been reported that the city of Orlando has purchased the Pulse nightclub property to construct a memorial for the victims.
