The detention of Pastor Adolfo Gutiérrez by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has sparked outrage and concern across South Texas.
The arrest took place on March 18 while the religious leader was on his way to drop off his daughters at school.
According to his eldest daughter, Alondra Gutiérrez, the agents knew exactly who they were targeting and acted swiftly.
“He had just dropped off my sister and was heading to take the oldest one when it all happened,” she explained.

“A couple of trucks pulled up. They knew who he was and just took him into the van,” she said.
The incident shocked the family, who received no immediate explanation from immigration authorities.

“From that point, we just wanted to know what would happen next, but ICE gave us no information,” Alondra said.
The pastor, who is undocumented, was taken to the El Valle Detention Center near the Mexico border.
Gutiérrez’s family keeps their faith

The family remains faithful despite the anxiety and uncertainty. They have created a GoFundMe page to request support.
“It’s been tough. It was a shock. In the middle of all the chaos, we’re holding on to God,” said his daughter, visibly shaken by the arrest.
Gutiérrez is well-known for his spiritual and community work at Resolute Church, where he built a life with his family.
“It’s hard because we’re used to being together. I’m the oldest, and we’re very close. Every night, he’s home with us,” said Alondra.
The news has mobilized churchgoers, neighbors, and friends who have shown their support for the pastor and his loved ones.
The community has also organized a fundraiser to help with legal fees and offer the family immediate aid.
“We received unconditional support from many families, even from people in school communities and the church. It was truly heartwarming,” Alondra shared.
At just 20 years old, Alondra has taken on the responsibility of helping her family through the crisis.

“I’m doing everything I can to support our family. I’ve contacted his clients. We just finished a couple of jobs. I’ve done my part,” she said.
For now, the family still doesn’t know what lies ahead for Adolfo Gutiérrez.
The lack of information from ICE has led to growing frustration and confusion.
“We have to hold on to the hope that someone who is just and upright will be granted due process,” Alondra insisted.
Navigating the immigration system has proven confusing and expensive for the family, who have faced many hurdles in seeking legal help.
“When we were looking for a lawyer… we had to pay a fortune just to get a response. You don’t get any clear information,” she complained.
Despite the uncertain outlook, the family remains united and strong in their faith.
“If that’s the case, we believe deeply in God and His plans,” Alondra said of the possibility of deportation.
For her and her family, Pastor Gutiérrez is more than a spiritual leader.
“My dad has built a life here. He’s done everything right. He pays taxes and works hard. We believe in the miracle that he’ll be allowed to stay,” she concluded.
Meanwhile, the religious community in Texas continues to raise its voice in search of justice.
Pastor Gutiérrez’s case adds to others that highlight the complexity of the U.S. immigration system, reported La Nación.
