Frank E. Tyson’s death was caught on video

The video reveals the disturbing moments when Frank E. Tyson told officers that he couldn’t breathe, according to WKYC.

An officer can be seen applying pressure with his knee on Tyson’s torso for a prolonged period of time, while he repeatedly said he could not breathe.

On Wednesday, the Canton Police Department shared the video showing the events that led to Tyson’s death on April 18.

According to the official account, two officers responded to an incident at an AMVETS location on Sherrick Road Southeast in Canton Township, where Tyson had taken shelter after being involved in a car accident.

Does the Frank E. Tyson case echo George Floyd?

The video, which lasts 35 minutes and 46 seconds, offers a detailed look at the moments before and after the confrontation between the officers and Tyson.

Police are seen interacting with him and eventually he winds up prone on the ground.

It is at this point we see the heartbreaking moment when Frank E. Tyson, visibly distraught, repeatedly cries, «I can’t breathe!»

The most alarming thing about the video is how long Tyson is being held down, followed by an interval of more than five minutes before his pulse is checked by authorities.

The police are under investigation

During this time, Tyson’s cries fill the air, as the officers appear to be pinning him down and ignoring his pleas.

The incident has stoked tensions in the community and led to questions about police use of force.

Comparisons to the George Floyd case, where a Minneapolis police officer kept his knee on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes, have emerged.

The officers involved in the incident are currently being investigated, and disciplinary action is expected to be taken once the internal review is complete.
