For several weeks, 27-year-old Rachel María Terranova believed she had evaded the police after fatally striking a person with her vehicle.

The incident occurred on Far Hills Avenue in Las Vegas, never imagining that the remains of her victim on the windshield would lead to her imprisonment.

The lifeless body of Darrel Pingleton, aged 35, was found in the early hours of Sunday, April 28, on the 215 Beltway near the Far Hills exit.

The victim was hit near a ramp and left to his fate, state judicial documents.

Rachel María Terranova’s Honda Civic Betrayed Her

At the scene, pieces of a Honda Civic were found, starting the search for the culprit.

Fearing discovery, Rachel María Terranova hid her car and began, according to court reports, to search Google for information related to the accident.

Finding no incriminating information, she took her car to a mechanic.

Three days after the fatal collision, investigators received a call from an automobile repair worker in Pahrump.

In the workshop, a woman had brought in her Honda Civic with front-end damage and apparent blood on the body.

Officers approached to inspect the car and found something gruesome.

On the outside of the windshield, there were human hairs, and the bumper stain tested positive for human blood, detail judicial reports.

Investigators compared the images from security videos of the crash area and confirmed it was the same vehicle involved in the hit and run accident.

They requested the court for an arrest warrant against the owner, Rachel María Terranova.

Now, the Hispanic woman faces a charge for failing to stop at the scene of an accident that resulted in a man’s death, according to the documents.

The accused remained in the Clark County Detention Center until early June when the judge released her with an electronic monitoring device.

Rachel María Terranova’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 5, when the truth about her crime will be revealed by Las Vegas authorities.
