The impressive scene was recorded by a security camera. A mother took desperate action to prevent a woman, later identified as Regina Castillo, from kidnapping her two children after she stole the family’s vehicle.
Regina Castillo, 29, of New Mexico, allegedly stole a car while two children were inside on July 4 in Hobbs, New Mexico. The Hobbs Police Department reported that a woman parked her white Hyundai Santa Fe in front of a store. When she returned, the suspect pushed her, quickly got into the vehicle and sped off, according to the New York Post.

According to The Sun, a video from a traffic camera recorded how the mother, identified as 33-year-old Melody Maldonado, tried to stop the theft of her car by making a drastic decision and climbing on the hood of the vehicle. However, she was unable to stop the alleged thief.
Inside were a 6-year-old girl and an 11-month-old baby, Melody Maldonado’s children, whose maternal instinct made her jump onto the moving vehicle to try to stop Regina Castillo. Later, when police officers located the car, they discovered that the suspect had left the little girl at an intersection before trying to flee from authorities, the Post reported. Apparently, she abandoned her for fear that the cell phone she had on her would be traced.
