According to a report by El Nuevo Día, the artist passed away due to kidney failure.
This was «a consequence of her diabetes condition,» the Puerto Rican newspaper reported, citing «several of her loved ones» and Joe Alameda Aladino.
«I am shattered. My angel has left,» Alameda said, recalling how she welcomed him into her home when he was just 16 years old.
«The day before, she shared many of her ideas with me and said she wanted a tangerine, but it never happened. I will miss her forever,» Alameda added.

Ricky Martin has also responded to the passing of the artist, joining other celebrities in expressing their condolences.
The singer posted a tribute to his compatriot Mami Ruddys on his Instagram stories, which last for 24 hours.
He shared a news article titled ‘Mammi Ruddys’ last wish: to be remembered for her vehemence and passion for the stage.’
In paying homage, the singer added a praying hands emoticon, honoring a pivotal figure in the ‘queer’ movement of ‘La Isla del Encanto’ (The Enchanted Island).
The life of Mami Ruddys

She gained international recognition for her unique impersonation of the Spanish singer Isabel Pantoja, a role she inhabited for four decades.
This led to her being known as ‘La Pantoja de Puerto Rico.’ She was also a talented seamstress, working for former vedette Lourdes Chacón and presenter Charytín Goyco.
According to El Nuevo Día, she was «expelled from her home at the age of 13» and found herself living on the streets.
«I always said: ‘I have to survive and give my family a reason to say: ‘We threw her out on the street, but she is a good person,» she told the newspaper last June.
She fought against illness

Despite battling her illness, ‘La Pantoja de Puerto Rico’ remained active in her art until the end.
Recently, she shared a striking photo session as part of one of her last interviews with the Puerto Rican press.
This year, she continued to entertain her audience with her comedy and song performances in the most vibrant nightclubs.
«Those who love me will remember me, and those who adore me will carry me in their hearts… as I always told them: you have to take care of yourself!!», the artist expressed in her last social media post.

Fans of Ruddys requested a tribute, and Dreuxilla, the drag queen, announced that it will take place on December 22.
The show will be a dedication to the late Puerto Rican drag queen. The performer behind Dreuxilla sent a message following Ruddys’ passing.
«She is irreplaceable. Ruddys was a school in every sense of the word,» she started in her tribute.
«Off stage, she was something else. An agreement was reached with the talents because it was something she desired, so the show will continue in her honor,» she concluded.»
