According to various media outlets, Yolanda Saldívar will give her side of the story in the Selena & Yolanda documentary on Oxygen.

The documentary features several interviews conducted with the ‘La Carcacha’ singer’s so-called friend.

«After so many years, I think it’s time to set the story straight… I knew her secrets, and I think people deserve to know the truth,» Saldívar says in the trailer.

According to Univision, the documentary will feature interviews with Yolanda’s family members, as well as detectives, prosecutors and more.

What does the Selena & Yolanda documentary trailer show?

Despite showing just over a minute of material, the trailer for the documentary is very revealing.

First, it shows how the news of the singer’s death was announced on March 31, 1995.

Then, some people’s testimony seems to support Saldívar’s claim that the murder was an accident.

And when no one expected it, we see what Yolanda looks like now in prison.

Selena’s fans speak up

It didn’t take long for Selena’s fans to react to the Selena & Yolanda documentary trailer.

«It was a planned murder.» «There’s absolutely nothing she can say to justify Selena’s murder,» some people commented.

One person stated that Saldívar doesn’t deserve to be released, while someone else said there are no secrets because she likes the spotlight.

«This really upsets me. After killing Selena in cold blood, she wants to feel justified. She’s full of s**t.»

Could she be granted parole?

The release of the Selena & Yolanda documentary trailer has brought an important issue to light.

According to Telemundo, Yolanda Saldívar could be released from prison in 2025, 30 years after killing the singer.

It’s worth remembering that the former president of the Selena’s fan club had been sentenced to life in prison.

At 63, Saldívar could be eligible for parole in a year. Will it be granted?

This documentary will air on Oxygen on Saturday, February 17, at 8 p.m. ET/PT

According to Univision, it will be two parts, with the second airing on the 18th at 7 p.m.

A day after it airs, it will be available to stream on Peacock, although there are currently no plans for it to be available on a streaming platform outside the U.S.
