A frightening incident of harassment by a social media user has marred Shakira’s new life in Miami.

This occurred after the individual brazenly approached the pop star’s mansion.

As per police investigations and a complaint from the Latin star’s security team, a fan had been sending unsettling messages to the singer of ‘El Jefe’ for weeks through her social media.

‘When I marry Shakira, I am going to adopt the children. She wants to be American like her father and wants to share the rest of her life with me,’ was the message that the accused posted.»

This message was made public on October 9, 2023, on an Instagram account along with a photograph of his face.

The follower, who is believed to reside in El Paso, Texas, had received several warnings from the singer and her security staff.

The warnings were meant to deter him from making further posts and from sending bottles of wine and chocolates to her house, but he apparently disregarded them and took things a step further.

On January 3, officers from the Miami Beach Police Department received an alert from the Colombian artist’s security team.

How were they alerted to Shakira’s stalker?

The alert was raised after they realized that Daniel John Valtier, aged 56, had posted Shakira’s address on his Instagram account.

This message led the personal security team to believe that Valtier might travel from Texas to Florida at any moment and attempt to approach the composer of ‘Waka-Waka.’

The arrest report confirmed the suspicions of the singer’s bodyguards, as the Texan arrived on Monday, January 8, in a taxi in front of the artist’s house.

As soon as the individual arrived at the location, officers from the Miami Beach Police Department apprehended him on charges of harassment.

According to the arrest report, Valtier’s messages, gifts, and posts for the Hispanic singer intensified between December 2023 and the early days of 2024.

In some of his posts on his personal platforms, Valtier even claimed that he and the Colombian singer were married and had a family.

After a review on Instagram, MundoNow was able to access two active accounts under the name of Daniel John Valtier.

On just one of the accounts on the digital platform, Valtier shares eight posts with musical backgrounds featuring the Colombian singer-songwriter.

What he posted is terrifying

Additionally, he posted a photograph of the artist, and his last image is of a white envelope with an address in Florida, which is presumed to be the photograph that alerted the Miami Beach authorities.

According to the police, the suspect did not make any contact with the singer-songwriter or her family. After Valtier’s arrest, he was transferred to the Miami-Dade County jail.

In the jail records, the Texan only has a $2,500 fine for renting a car with the intent to defraud. As of now, the harassment charge does not appear in his records.

Nor is there any requirement to pay a fine for this offense in order to be released. At the moment, the singer has not made any comments about the case on any of her social media.
