Iconic Simpsons character is killed off
Good Simpsons episode this week. I’ve come to find most of the Homer, Moe, Carl and Lenny plots to be some of the best ones in recent years and this was one of them. And having it center around a background character like Larry worked well.

Larry Dalrymple, one of the regulars at Moe’s bar who made his debut in the third episode of The Simpsons has died.
His silent presence on the series came to an end during the April 21 episode, titled ‘Cremains of the Day.’
His death took many viewers by surprise, although The Simpsons executive producer and showrunner Matt Selman had hinted at Larry’s possible fatal fate before the episode aired.
In that episode, Larry dies at Moe’s bar.

In the scene, Moe was trying to throw his friends out of the place by hitting them with a mop. At that moment they realize that Larry was not moving.
Then Moe hits him a second time and Larry falls back onto the bar as Moe cries, «He’s dead!»
The episode ends with Homer and his friends taking Larry’s ashes to Moe’s tavern while they remember their best moments and Larry appears as a ghost.
Although Larry was a background character who never spoke on the series, his constant presence at Moe’s Tavern made him an institution on the show.

Likewise, Larry Dalrymple earned a place in the hearts of The Simpsons fans for his permanent presence at Moe’s bar.
Although he never uttered a single word in the series, his silent presence became an integral part of the visual framework of the series, according to Excelsior.
He was one of those secondary characters who managed to capture the audience’s attention with his mere presence.
Other characters who have died on the series include: Maude Flanders (Ned Flanders’ wife), Snowball, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Fat Tony, Frank Grimes, Edna Krabappel, Marvin Monroe, Mona Simpson, Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz.
