Among them, ensuring programming that represents diverse political and ideological viewpoints.
The new company, provisionally named New Paramount, will be required to promote fairer and more balanced coverage.
“If these commitments are implemented, CBS will be able to operate in the public interest,” Carr stated.
The official emphasized that this will help restore public trust in national media.
Key Agreement Drives Skydance-Paramount Merger

Skydance, known for its film and television productions, will take measures to eliminate informational bias.
Carr was emphatic in stating that Americans have lost trust in traditional media.
“It’s time for a change,” he said in the statement.
The approval comes days after President Donald Trump announced a settlement with Paramount to close a multimillion-dollar lawsuit.
Paramount Assets and Oversight Measures

On July 22, Trump announced that his team had reached a settlement worth over $36 million with the conglomerate.
The legal dispute centered around a 2024 interview with Kamala Harris, then his rival in the presidential race.
This agreement was key to clearing the final obstacle before the FCC made its ruling.
With the lawsuit settled and the merger approved, Skydance moves forward with restructuring one of the major media giants in the U.S.
Skydance Buys Paramount and Begins Transformation
Paramount Global owns iconic assets in the industry, such as Paramount Pictures and CBS.
It also controls Paramount Streaming, as well as cable channels like MTV, Nickelodeon, and Showtime.
The FCC highlighted that one of the most innovative commitments will be the creation of an ombudsman.
For at least two years, this figure will be tasked with receiving complaints of bias and reporting them to the leadership of New Paramount.
Inclusion, Oversight, and New Media Challenges
This measure aims to promote transparency and increase accountability within the conglomerate.
Carr emphasized that these steps will help the new company operate with stronger ethical principles.
The commission also noted that Skydance currently does not have diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.
According to the agreement, it will not implement DEI initiatives in the new company.
