The Mutual Uruguayan Association of Professional Footballers (MUFP) declared a period of mourning following the loss of the young player.

According to the police report, authorities received an alert about a gunshot victim in the Cerro Norte neighborhood.

Froste had injuries to his chest and abdomen. Despite efforts to revive him, his death was confirmed.

According to Geral Froste’s mother, the incident occurred when he tried to intervene in a nearby neighborhood fight.

During the altercation, gunshots were heard, one of which struck Geral, according to ESPN.

The mother stated that the shooter was a neighbor, but no further details about the assailant were revealed.

Uruguay’s Telenoche news reported that the fight resulted in the detention of three men and the seizure of two firearms.

Additionally, one of the suspects’ homes was set on fire after the incident.

On Christmas morning, Montevideo recorded two other homicides, according to official sources.

Geral Froste was one of the victims of the violence that affected the Uruguayan capital that night.
