  • Beneficiaries Should Plan Expenses

As the year comes to a close, the Social Security Administration (SSI) adjusts its payment schedule, allowing Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries to better organize their finances.

However, this year, December brings a special situation for some of them.

Instead of receiving their usual check in December, many beneficiaries will receive two payments in November.

This change in disbursements is due to payment dates coinciding with holidays, forcing the administration to modify the payment schedule.

The adjustment may be confusing for many beneficiaries, especially those who rely on this income to cover their expenses.

A similar situation occurred in August, and now, in December, payments will follow the same logic.

Since December 1, 2024, falls on a Sunday, the Social Security payment for that month will be moved up to November 29.

This means beneficiaries will receive two payments in November: one on November 1 and the other on November 29, which will cover December.

Therefore, they will not receive any payment in December, as the one for that month will have been given in advance.

For some, this change could be difficult to manage, as not receiving a payment in December may complicate their budget.

Thus, it is crucial for beneficiaries to plan their finances properly to avoid end-of-year issues, according to Mundo Deportivo.

This adjustment primarily affects SSI beneficiaries, who depend on these payments to meet their basic needs.

Additionally, those who receive both SSI and retirement income for individuals over 62 years old may benefit from a temporary increase in their income.

In November, these beneficiaries will receive three payments: two for SSI and one for their retirement.

While this might seem like an advantage, the lack of a payment in December could be challenging, especially if the money received in November is not managed properly.

In November, SSI payments will be made on November 1 and November 29. The regular retirement payment for those over 62 will follow the usual schedule, meaning that those receiving both incomes may get three checks that month.
