Uber driver stabbed in Target parking lot

According to local police reports, officers were alerted around 8:40 pm after receiving a distress call from a man who was severely injured in the Target parking lot.
Madison Police Department (MPD) Lieutenant Jason Ostrenga said that the victim, a 52-year-old man, received multiple stab wounds to the torso, according to WKOW.
The drama did not end there.
Desperate to save his life, the Uber driver managed to reach the front of the store, where shoppers, including a nurse, rushed to his aid and called 911.
What happened?

The combined efforts of bystanders and the rapid response of authorities helped stabilize the injured man, who was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.
The victim had been stabbed multiple times with a sharp instrument, possibly a knife, Ostrenga explained, highlighting the severity of the attack.
The police investigation revealed chilling details about the attacker’s modus operandi.
It was discovered that the victim had picked up the suspect near the same Target where the violent attack occurred.
Antonio Rodgers attempted to get the Uber driver to go to a secluded location

According to Ostrenga, Antonio Rodgers seemed to be manipulating the situation in order to steal the car.
It is believed that the suspect was trying to take the Uber driver to a more isolated location in the parking lot before the attack, according to WKOW.
The police response was swift and coordinated. Police notified authorities statewide and the Racine County Sheriff’s Office managed to track down the stolen car.
However, the dramatic incident did not stop at the crime scene.
The suspect led police on a chase in the Uber driver’s stolen car

Police chased Antonio Rodgers, a 22-year-old Chicago resident, along Interstate 94, after he sped off in the victim’s car.
According to a statement from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers mobilized to stop a speeding Toyota.
The attempt to stop the suspect turned into a scene reminiscent of an action movie when Rodgers, defying the officers’ orders to stop, accelerated his vehicle to over 120 miles per hour, according to WTMJ.
