  • Angélica Carrasquillo had a ‘kill list’ of students.
  • The former 5th grade teacher was sentenced this week.
  • She was convicted of felony intimidation.

The disturbing incident unfolded when the fifth-grade teacher revealed plans to kill herself and students, shocking the community.

Angélica Carrasquillo Torres, a teacher of Puerto Rican descent, was exposed after one of her students bravely shared her alarming remarks with a school counselor.

The young boy said, «I heard Ms. Carrasquillo wants to kill herself and has a list,» revealing the frightening situation at the school.

Upon learning of this, officials at St. Stanislaus Catholic School in East Chicago swiftly took action. Carrasquillo was immediately suspended and escorted off school grounds.

According to WTHR, authorities arrested Angélica Carrasquillo at her residence in Griffith, about 24 hours after the school reported the incident.

When questioned by the police, she admitted: «I’m having trouble with my mental health, and sometimes the kids do not listen in the classroom,» according to the police report.

The 25-year-old teacher appeared in court on October 28, 2022, facing a charge of felony intimidation.

The judge imposed a bond of $20,000 or $2,000 in cash for her release.

Nine months after her initial hearing, Carrasquillo pleaded guilty in Lake County Superior Court.

The Puerto Rican teacher was sentenced to two and a half years of probation.

She is prohibited from contacting her students, the school and her colleagues. Carrasquillo must also adhere to court-supervised mental health treatment.

Successfully completing probation might enable Carrasquillo to petition to reduce her sentence to a misdemeanor. This would potentially pave the way for her return to teaching, contingent upon the terms of her parole agreement.
