Tenoch Huerta and Mabel Cadena: Mexicans starring in Marvel’s ‘Black Panther 2’

On Saturday, July 23, the San Diego International Comic Convention, known simply as Comic-Con, was held. There, the major superhero film production companies announced their next projects and some Mexicans, including Tenoch Huerta and Mabel Cadena, are in the cast.
Mexicans are happy to see that their culture will be represented in one of the most anticipated films coming from Marvel Studios. Three Hispanic actors and a singer will be part of one of the most important film productions in 2022.
Marvel Studios will represent Mexico

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has monopolized movie theaters with its great productions. It is enough to see the euphoria that was caused by the premieres of Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now at Comic-Con fans were thrilled when they announced new movies coming this year.
When Kevin Feig, president of Marvel Studios, took the stage to present the new film from his studio, he announced that Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever would feature three Mexican actors and the Latinos present were moved by the news.
Mexicans succeeding in Hollywood

Actor Tenoch Huerta caused great excitement on social media when it was announced that he would play the character Namor, a mutant son of a sailor and a princess from the mysterious aquatic world of Atlantis. A few months ago there were rumors about this, but the announcement was made official at Comic-Con.
Mabel Cadena will play Namora, a fictional character who appears in Marvel Comics. She was born in Atlantis and is the daughter of an Atlantean father and a human mother. She is Namor’s cousin. It was also said that the world of Atlantis will be adapted to reflect Aztec culture.
A Mexican will be featured on the soundtrack

There is another character called Attuma, a supervillain from the Marvel comics who will also appear in the second Black Panther movie. This role will be played by Josué Maychi. It is said that in this version, Maychi’s character will be the «biggest enemy».
But it does not end there, since the film’s official Twitter announced that Ángel Quezada, known as the Santa Fe Klan, will appear on the film’s soundtrack with the song Soy. Mexicans have shown their excitement about this news on social media.
Latinos take power

Salma Hayek played Ajak in Eternals, a Marvel Studios film released in 2021. Zoe Saldaña has been playing Gamora, a character in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies since 2014.
