A 78-year-old Franksville Wisconsin resident has been arrested for possessing child pornography. He now faces multiple felony charges.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office identified Thomas Firmani, during an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit.

Firmani became a person of interest after police found evidence that he may possess child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

The operation culminated with a search warrant at his home on Friday, April 12, executed by the sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Bureau and the ICAC unit.

Thomas Firmani is arrested for possessing child pornography

Despite Firmani’s initial denials about possessing the illicit material, it was found in his home.

Investigators seized numerous electronic devices from both his home and his person.

Forensic analysis of these devices revealed an alarming amount of images and videos of child pornography.

Firmani was arrested on Monday, April 22.

A confession aggravates Firmani’s legal situation

The 78-year-old was transported to the Racine County Jail, where his bail has been set at $500,000.

During a subsequent interview with investigators, Firmani admitted to downloading, viewing and possessing child pornography.

This confession worsens his legal situation.

Racine County Sheriff Schmaling spoke about the disturbing arrest.

«Although these investigations take a tremendous amount of hard work and expertise, the sheriff’s office will not waiver in our duty and commitment to protect the innocence of children.»

Racine County Sheriff Schmaling made this statement when asked about the case.

He currently faces 10 charges of possession of child pornography.

Each of them could add more time to a possible prison sentence.
