According to the EFE news agency, a tow truck driver in Los Angeles was arrested after an unusual incident during an immigration operation in the city center.
The U.S. Department of Justice reported on Tuesday that Bobby Núñez, 33, faces charges of theft of government property.
The events took place on August 15, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents attempted to detain a young Colombian influencer.
The woman was identified as Tatiana Mafla-Martínez, 23, who had been livestreaming ICE raids in Los Angeles on social media.

According to the indictment, ICE agents used two official vehicles to block the car in which Martínez was traveling.
Both vehicles had emergency lights activated to indicate that it was an official operation.
The young woman refused to exit the vehicle, sparking a struggle between her and federal agents.
It was at that point that Núñez intervened and began obstructing the arrest.

According to the complaint, the driver pushed the passenger-side door against an ICE agent.
The officer warned him that he could be arrested if he continued interfering.
At that moment, a second man appeared to distract the agents.
Núñez seized the confusion, started his Dodge tow truck, and hooked up one of the government SUVs.
Colombian Influencer Denounces Political Persecution

Martínez’s defense attorney, Carlos Jurado, argued that her arrest is linked to her online activities.
The lawyer explained that the young Colombian has more than 47,000 followers on TikTok.
From that platform, she broadcast videos reporting alleged ICE operations in Los Angeles neighborhoods.
The arrest was captured from multiple angles by witnesses’ cameras as well as her own livestream.
Debate Over Motives Behind the ICE Arrest and Legal Background
In the footage, agents can be seen pulling Martínez from her car.
She was then forced to the ground as she resisted arrest.
The Department of Homeland Security stated that the arrest warrant was connected to a prior conviction for driving under the influence.
Meanwhile, her defense insists she was targeted for exposing ICE raids and livestreaming enforcement operations.
