- Trump Administration Sued Over TPS Revocation
- Venezuelan Migrants Targeted
- Here Are the Details
Two immigration rights organizations have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration following the decision to revoke Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelan citizens in the United States.
The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in California, argues that the measure is illegal and driven by discriminatory motives against Venezuelan migrants.
The Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a humanitarian immigration benefit granted to citizens from countries affected by armed conflicts, natural disasters, or other extraordinary conditions that prevent their safe return.
Under President Joe Biden, TPS was granted to Venezuelans in 2021, allowing thousands of individuals to live and work legally in the U.S.
However, the Trump administration’s immigration policy has been marked by severe restrictions, and the attempt to revoke TPS reflects a stricter approach toward migration.

One of the organizations leading the lawsuit stated:
«This decision lacks any legal justification and is driven by discriminatory views toward Latin American migrants.»
“This decision does not reflect the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and is yet another manifestation of the Trump administration’s discriminatory stance against Latin American migrants,” one of the plaintiff organizations stated in a press release.
This was reported by EFE.

According to immigrant advocacy groups, over 300,000 Venezuelans could be directly affected by the loss of TPS.
For many, returning to Venezuela under current conditions could mean human rights violations, political persecution, and economic hardship.
“I have been in the U.S. for six years—I work, pay taxes, and have built my life here. If they take away TPS, I will be left in immigration limbo, not knowing what will happen to me and my family.”
These were the words of a TPS beneficiary who chose to remain anonymous.
Trump Administration Response After Being Sued
The Trump administration has defended its decision, arguing that TPS was never meant to be permanent.
It asserts that immigration policy must prioritize legality and national security.
“Our administration is committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that immigration programs are applied correctly, without abuse or manipulation.”
This was stated by a White House spokesperson in response to the lawsuit.
Legal Perspectives and Possible Outcomes
Immigration law experts predict that the lawsuit could delay the TPS revocation, allowing affected individuals time to seek alternative legal options.
However, uncertainty remains for the thousands of Venezuelans who depend on TPS for their legal status.
“If the court rules against the government, it would be a major victory for migrant rights and could set an important precedent for other TPS recipients,” explained an immigration attorney.
The case is still in its early stages, and a date for the initial hearing has not yet been set.
In the meantime, the Venezuelan community in the United States remains vigilant, as this legal battle will determine the future of thousands of individuals.
