Former U.S. President Donald Trump has been the target of a second assassination attempt in less than two months, sparking intense political debate across the country.
On Sunday, Secret Service agents thwarted the attack when an armed man, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, attempted to shoot Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Secret Service, upon detecting the gun barrel, shot at the attacker, who was later apprehended by local police, according to reports from Reuters.
The incident has placed the spotlight on the security of the former president and current Republican candidate.
DONALD TRUMP WILL HAVE TO DO THE UNEXPECTED

In a private meeting on Monday, Secret Service Chief Ronald Rowe warned Trump of the inevitable.
According to reports, he was told that his security measures would need to be reviewed and reinforced if he wished to continue playing golf.

Amid growing fears for Donald Trump’s safety, the former president revealed that he received a «very kind call» from an unexpected source.
“I received a very kind call from Kamala,” Donald Trump said during an event in Michigan, moderated by Republican Governor Huckabee Sanders.
However, his mention of Harris’s name was met with boos from the audience.
Despite this, Trump insisted that Harris was «very kind,» a stark contrast to the accusations he had made just days earlier.
In those statements, he had blamed Harris and her «communist rhetoric» for the assassination attempt, according to AP.
At the same time, Harris, during a conversation with the National Association of Black Journalists, condemned political violence in the United States and reaffirmed her trust in the Secret Service.
Harris also took the opportunity to point out that «not everyone has a Secret Service.»
This remark was a nod to the insecurity faced by Haitian migrants.
They have been the target of threats following the spread of rumors in Springfield, Ohio, sparked by Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance did not hesitate to blame the Democratic Party for the assassination attempt.
At the same time, he continued to criticize migrants in Springfield.
In response, Democrat Tim Walz, Harris’s running mate, accused Vance of «making up stories» to gain political support.
President Joe Biden also expressed concern, personally calling Donald Trump to check on his condition and reaffirm his commitment to national security.
