U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday the appointment of Dan Bongino as the new Deputy Director of the FBI.
“Great news for law enforcement and American justice!” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“Dan Bongino, a man with incredible love and passion for our country, has just been appointed as the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI.”
At 50 years old, Bongino is a former Secret Service agent and a political commentator well-known for his strong support of Trump.
The Controversial Appointment of Kash Patel as FBI Director
Bongino’s appointment comes just days after the Senate confirmation of Kash Patel as the new FBI Director—a nomination that has sparked controversy due to Patel’s previous statements and lack of experience for the role.
Patel has faced criticism for making legal threats against media outlets and Trump’s political opponents.
Trump also emphasized that Bongino will work closely with the new U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel to “restore fairness, justice, law, and order” in the country.
“Congratulations, Dan!” Trump added in his post.
The president highlighted Bongino’s career achievements, noting his service as a New York Police Department officer and a Secret Service special agent.
Bongino also served in the Presidential Protection Division during the administrations of George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

In recent years, Bongino gained popularity as the host of The Dan Bongino Show Podcast, where he interviewed Trump in October.
He also hosted Unfiltered with Dan Bongino on Fox News.
Following his appointment, Bongino expressed gratitude to Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and the new FBI Director Kash Patel in a post on X.
