US Attorney General Pam Bondi stated on Sunday, April 6, that President Donald Trump will «probably» not seek reelection for a third term.

This is something explicitly prohibited by the US Constitution.

“(Trump) is very smart. I’d love for him to be our president for 20 more years,” she said during an interview with Fox News.

“But I think he’ll probably finish after this term,” Bondi added.

The 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, ratified in 1951, establishes that no person can be elected president “more than twice.”

Amending the Constitution would require a two-thirds vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, plus ratification by three-fourths of the 50 US states.

The Republican leader has previously mentioned the possibility of seeking another term.

And last March, he said he did not rule out running in the next election, scheduled for 2028, claiming there are “methods” to make it happen.

In her interview with Fox News, Pam Bondi also confirmed that the government has administratively dismissed a federal prosecutor.

This is the same prosecutor who, in a court hearing last Friday, struggled to answer the judge’s questions regarding the case of a migrant whom the US mistakenly deported to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador.

Kilmer Ábrego García, a Salvadoran man residing in Maryland and married to a US citizen, was sent to a Salvadoran prison in March.

This happened despite a court order protecting him from deportation, which the government described as an “administrative error.”

A judge ordered his return to the US, but Pam Bondi insisted on Sunday that Ábrego García should not come back because, she claimed, he is a member of the MS-13 gang (Mara Salvatrucha).

“The best thing we can do is remove these individuals from our country,” the Attorney General said.

“And when that first plane took off and landed in El Salvador, there were 261 reasons why Americans were safer,” she added.

“We have to prioritize our country’s safety above all else, and that is Donald Trump’s directive,” she affirmed.
