Ukraine has carried out one of its most ambitious attacks since the start of the war, striking multiple air bases deep inside Russia simultaneously.

The objective: to destroy strategic bombers that have been used to strike Ukrainian cities.

Russian authorities have acknowledged the attacks but are downplaying the damage.

According to a source from the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), more than 40 Russian aircraft were hit at four different air bases.

Among the affected aircraft were TU-95 and TU-22M3 strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

As well as an A-50 surveillance aircraft.

The attacks targeted airfields deep within Russian territory, including Belaya (Irkutsk), Dyagilevo (Ryazan), Olenya (Murmansk), and Ivanovo.

The SBU claims that the drones were launched from trucks disguised as mobile homes, which had been moved into Russian territory beforehand.

The governor of Irkutsk confirmed that the drones were launched from areas near the Belaya base.

According to the SBU, the operation’s logistics were “extremely complex.”

And the drones remained hidden until the moment of the attack.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense described the offensive as “terrorist attacks.”

It also stated that several fires had been extinguished and no casualties had been reported.

Authorities reported the arrest of suspected participants, though no further details have been provided.

Ukrainian intelligence estimates that the damage exceeds $2 billion in destroyed military equipment.

The Air War Escalates

This action marks a new chapter in Ukraine’s strategy of taking the war into Russian territory.

Focusing efforts on neutralizing the Kremlin’s strategic aviation.

The operation also represents a technological and tactical advance in Ukraine’s use of long-range drones.
