Despite Arrests in Venezuela, US Denies Role in Plot Against Nicolás Maduro

Cabello accused the detainees of attempting to assassinate Nicolás Maduro and other Chavista leaders, while also seizing weapons allegedly originating from the US.
He claimed that the arrested Spaniards had ties to Spain’s National Intelligence Center (CNI), suggesting an international operation.
According to Cabello, the detainees were attempting to bring mercenaries into the country and communicated with local opposition figures to purchase explosives for terrorist activities.
Messages found on their phones were reportedly directed to a leader of the opposition party Vente Venezuela, inquiring about the purchase of explosives and special contacts.
Cabello also implicated former Caracas Police Commissioner Iván Simonovis in the alleged plot, citing his connections to the Venezuelan opposition.
Among those mentioned by Cabello is opposition leader María Corina Machado, who is allegedly linked to the supposed conspiracy to overthrow Maduro.

The seized weapons, allegedly transported from US territory, were a key element in Cabello’s accusations.
Maduro was re-elected in an election held on July 28, whose results have been rejected by the opposition and much of the international community.
