This tornado was part of a severe storm that hit northern California starting Friday night, December 13.

The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for the San Francisco area early Saturday.

This triggered emergency notifications on residents’ mobile phones.

Although the anticipated tornado in San Francisco did not materialize, strong storm winds wreaked havoc in other regions.

In Novato, North Bay, a power outage left thousands without electricity for several hours.

High winds also led to the total closure of Interstate 580 in both directions.

This caused traffic chaos and significant delays for drivers.

Local authorities and emergency teams mobilized quickly to address damage in Scotts Valley and other affected areas.

Initial efforts focused on restoring power, clearing blocked roads, and assessing safety risks for residents.

The Scotts Valley fire chief reported that, despite the material damage, no fatalities or severe injuries were recorded.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service continues to monitor weather conditions in the region.

The Scotts Valley tornado is the latest example of a rising pattern of extreme weather events in California.

A state already known for wildfires and droughts, California has experienced increased frequency and intensity of storms, extreme winds, and flooding in recent years.

Climate change experts have pointed to global warming as a potential cause.

Disrupting weather patterns and increasing the likelihood of unpredictable and dangerous phenomena.
