President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly planning mass layoffs at the Pentagon once he takes office.
This information was revealed by anonymous sources close to his transition team in an interview with Reuters.
The move may include the potential dismissal of several high-ranking military officials, including members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, marking an unprecedented restructuring within the Department of Defense.
According to the sources, still in the early stages of planning, these actions aim to remove officers with alleged ties to General Mark Milley.
WHY ARE MASS LAYOFFS HAPPENING AT THE PENTAGON?

The mentioned official, General Mark Milley, served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during Donald Trump’s previous administration and recently described him as a “fascist” in Bob Woodward’s book War.
In response, Trump allies have accused Milley and the officers he promoted of having questionable loyalties.

«All appointments and promotions made under Milley’s supervision will be reviewed,» commented one of the sources, adding that there is a detailed list of officers connected to him.
The source also questioned the feasibility of carrying out such an extensive overhaul but insisted that the plans reflect a strong intent to reorganize military leadership.
Donald Trump has previously voiced his disdain for defense leaders who criticized his administration.
During his campaign, he discussed removing generals he deemed “woke” and held them accountable for the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
It remains unclear whether Trump will ultimately support this decision.
The selection of Pete Hegseth, a veteran and Fox News commentator, as his prospective Secretary of Defense suggests a focus on implementing radical changes within the Pentagon.
The restructuring could lead to the removal of leaders from the Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard, and Space Force, who collectively form the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Reuters reported.
This would significantly alter the direction of the armed forces during a critical transitional period.
Donald Trump’s campaign team did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the cited outlet.
However, a deep reorganization of military leadership could have significant implications for both the security and stability of the United States armed forces.
