A fun field trip for a group of middle school students in Wisconsin turned into a nightmare.

A tragic road accident left six young people injured, along with two adults.

The incident took place near Hudson on Thursday morning and has shaken the community of DeLong Middle School in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Where were the students going?

According to WKBT, the students were headed to the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis for a school field trip.

However, around 10:40 AM, fate dealt a harsh blow to the Wisconsin students.

One of the buses transporting them was involved in a serious accident on the bridge over the St. Croix River.

The tragedy occurred where two lanes were closed for repairs and only two westbound lanes remained open.

When traffic suddenly slowed, the school bus rear-ended a tanker trailer, according to CBS.

The accident resulted in eight injuries, shocking everyone involved.

Two of the injured students were transported to a nearby hospital.

One had a cut lip and another was taken as a precaution. Meanwhile, a chaperone and the bus driver also sustained injuries in the crash.

There was a second bus full of children

Meanwhile, students traveling on a second bus, which fortunately was not involved in the accident, were taken back to the school.

The shocking incident surely leave an indelible mark on everyone involved in this tragic incident.

The community is dismayed by what happened and demands answers.
