According to a GoFundMe campaign, on August 31, the family of Nathan Orozco lived a day that will mark their lives forever after it was confirmed he was fatally shot by a police officer in Grand Prairie.
Nathan, described by his loved ones as a devoted father and the heart of his home, left behind his two young sons, Rey and Santino, as well as his partner, Nubia, who now face the harsh reality of continuing without his presence.
The family has launched a fundraising campaign to ensure the well-being, education, and care of the children, seeking to keep Orozco’s legacy of love and responsibility alive.
According to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office, Orozco died around 2:25 a.m. on Sunday in a hospital after being shot by an officer.

The sequence began at approximately 12:50 a.m., when police responded to a 911 call made by a woman who was asking for help while claiming she was being harmed inside a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 30 after leaving Dallas.
Witnesses later reported that a man fired several times from the car window with a pistol, which triggered alarm among law enforcement.
Officers located the vehicle shortly after, parked at a gas station near Belt Line Road after leaving I-30.
According to police, the woman managed to get out of the car while officers ordered the driver, identified as Nathan Orozco, to show his empty hands.
A Shooting That Left Open Questions

The report indicates that Orozco refused to comply and began searching inside the vehicle. This led an officer to fire his weapon at him.
So far, it has not been confirmed whether Orozco was inside or outside the vehicle when he was shot.
Orozco was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where doctors confirmed his death shortly after his arrival.
The woman traveling with him received medical attention for injuries sustained during the assault. She was discharged hours later, according to the official statement.
Justice for Nathan Orozco and His Family
During the subsequent search, authorities reported finding a pistol within Orozco’s reach, which is part of the evidence in the case.
The Grand Prairie Police Department stated that both the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the department’s Office of Professional Standards will conduct independent investigations to clarify the facts and determine whether the use of force was justified.
This procedure is standard in incidents involving officers discharging their weapons, with the goal of ensuring transparency and accountability.
As investigations move forward, Nathan Orozco’s family faces the void of his absence and the challenges of raising two young children without their father.
The Hispanic Community Demands Answers
Friends and neighbors of the Orozco family have organized to express their support and, at the same time, raise their voices over what they consider a painful incident that requires greater clarity.
Several members of the Hispanic community in Texas have shared messages on social media calling for an impartial investigation to clarify whether the use of force was truly unavoidable.
For many, the case of Nathan Orozco is not an isolated event but part of a broader problem related to the way certain police operations are carried out in the country.
The demand for justice and transparency has become a common cause among those who have accompanied the family through this difficult process, seeking to ensure that the truth prevails.
