  • Ford announced the recall of more than 850,000 trucks and SUVs in the United States because of a serious issue.
  • This defect increases the risk of accidents, threatening the safety of thousands of drivers.
  • Owners will receive notifications to have their vehicles inspected and repaired, although the final fix is not yet available.

Ford is pulling more than 850,000 vehicles off the U.S. market due to a critical defect in the fuel pump.

The problem can cause the engine to shut off unexpectedly while driving, creating a high risk of crashes.

According to a report by CBS, although the company has not reported any injuries linked to the defect, it is urging owners to watch for official notices and take action to address the issue.

According to the notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the low-pressure fuel pump can fail and cut off the flow of fuel the engine needs to keep running. This leads to the engine stalling in motion.

The recall affects 850,318 vehicles in the United States, including very popular models:

  • Ford F-150, Mustang (2021–2022)
  • Bronco, Explorer, and the Super Duty series (2021–2023)
  • Expedition (2022)

In the Lincoln lineup:

  • Navigator (2021–2022)
  • Aviator (2021–2023)

Ford estimates that about 10% of those vehicles are likely to have the defect—still tens of thousands of cars posing a real safety risk.

In 2025 alone, Ford has issued 89 recalls in the U.S., impacting more than 5 million vehicles, according to NHTSA records.

This is the highest number for any manufacturer in just six months—more than many companies record in an entire year.

This latest recall for faulty fuel pumps follows a similar action in January that affected nearly 300,000 diesel trucks due to a high-pressure issue.

Experts see a troubling pattern that Ford needs to address to rebuild consumer trust.

Impact on the Hispanic Community That Relies on Ford Trucks

For the Latino community in the United States, Ford trucks like the F-150 or SUVs like the Explorer and Expedition are daily work tools and family transportation.

An engine that stalls without warning could leave families stranded on the road or cause serious accidents. In addition, many Latino workers in construction, delivery, or landscaping depend on these trucks to earn a living.

Losing access to their vehicles while waiting for repairs could directly impact their income and daily routines.

Expert Opinions and Official Warnings

Ford acknowledged: “The pump is more likely to fail when the tank is low on fuel or in hot weather,” and advised owners to take extra precautions until the solution is implemented.

Next Steps for Ford Truck Owners

Ford will mail the first round of notification letters on July 14 to inform owners about the recall and the associated risks.

A second round of letters will follow once the company has finalized the technical fix.

In the meantime, owners can call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or reach the NHTSA safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more information.
