According to police reports, six girls the same age as Gabriela Nicole Pratts and two women over 20 planned the attack due to personal differences.
When Gabriela and her mother, Lisandra Rosario, were about to leave the place, the attackers restrained the mother to prevent her from intervening and then stabbed the young girl seven to eight times with a blade hidden in a comb.
During the attack, a friend of Gabriela tried to defend her but was also injured.
Although he survived and was released after receiving medical attention, he could not prevent the death of the teenager, which occurred amid her mother’s desperation as she begged them to stop.

Puerto Rico’s Secretary of Justice, Lourdes L. Gómez Torres, confirmed the arrest of the six minors and two young women involved in Gabriela Nicole Pratts’ case.
Fearing that some might flee the island, the FBI assisted in the operation.
The judicial process now focuses on clarifying each one’s responsibility and determining applicable sentences.
The case has sparked strong demands for justice from the community of Aibonito.
Neighbors and relatives accompanied Lisandra Rosario at her daughter’s funeral, expressing outrage at the brutality of the attack and the apparent premeditation with which it was carried out. The mother, visibly shaken, declared through tears that she feels as if her heart had been ripped out after witnessing her daughter’s death without being able to stop it.
Social impact and call for reflection

The violence with which this murder was carried out shocked the entire island. Beyond the family tragedy, the case opened a debate about youth violence, access to knives, and the need to strengthen prevention policies.
For many, the attack reflects a troubling social fracture, where conflicts among teenagers escalate into crimes.
The Puerto Rican government now faces pressure to ensure justice is served and to implement measures to prevent similar events.
The collective grief in Aibonito is evident: marches, vigils, and messages on social media have multiplied, remembering Gabriela as a cheerful young girl whose life was taken in an act of violence that society unanimously rejects.
