Around 10 a.m. last Tuesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents raided a Home Depot located on Slauson Avenue in Huntington Park.

A man, chased by federal immigration agents, ran into the street and was struck by a vehicle, according to a witness.

Medical teams transported him to the hospital, treated him and later discharged him. Agents detained at least one other person during the raid.

Another man identified as Ernesto was reported missing, according to Telemundo.

Later, emergency services confirmed his whereabouts and stated that he was safe.

What authorities say

The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that it received an emergency call at 10:11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Teams arrived at the scene at 10:15 a.m.

The man who was struck was immediately transported to a local hospital.

In an official statement, the city of Huntington Park confirmed that a civilian vehicle hit a man during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity.

Sergio Infanzón, the city’s director of communications and community relations, said the Huntington Park Police Department is investigating the circumstances of the incident.

He indicated that preliminary reports show the individual was taken to a hospital for treatment of non–life-threatening injuries.

Testimonies from the scene

Sam, a community responder and director of the food program at Comida Para Todos and Siempre Unidos LA, was at the site delivering bread donations to a group of day laborers.

She began blowing her whistle after seeing two men approach and remove their masks.

At that moment, she saw a Ford F-150 truck enter the lumber area of the store.

According to her account, that was when federal immigration agents began pursuing several workers.

The man who was struck had reportedly been chased to the middle of the street.

Sam told local media that the Huntington Park Police Department evaluated the injured man.

She said municipal officers asked federal agents to wait because he needed medical attention.

Local authorities continue investigating the incident.

The city of Huntington Park reiterated that the inquiry into the collision between the pedestrian and the vehicle is ongoing.

Initial reports indicate that the man remains out of danger after being discharged from the hospital.
