Hoverboards recalled due to fire risk

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of a highly popular product during the holiday season.

The items in question are DGL Group hoverboards, which have been flagged as a possible threat to consumers.

The recall was issued due to possible risks associated with the Hover-1 Helix hoverboards in Camouflage and Galaxy colors.

The recall is due to a problem with the lithium-ion battery that can cause overheating, becoming a potential fire hazard.

The hoverboards in question can be identified by certain serial numbers, which contain the codes 15914, 19203 or 19988.

This is the fifth code of the six-digit serial number located on the bottom of the dashboard.

These products are marked ‘Hover-1’ on the front and have the ‘Hover-1 Helix’ model identification and serial number on separate labels on the bottom.

Consumers who have purchased these hoverboards are urged to stop using them immediately and contact Hover-1.

They will receive instructions on how to get a replacement hoverboard for free.

This recall has been prompted by three concerning reports DGL has received of fires associated with these hoverboards.

They have been linked to five cases of people suffering headaches, nausea or coughing from smoke inhalation, in addition to about $25,000 in reported property damage.

Where were they sold?

These products were sold online through Walmart and Amazon, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

They were available for purchase from September 2020 to December 2021, with an approximate price between $170 and $200.

The CPSC has indicated that DGL Group can be reached in various ways.
