The agent with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) who fatally shot Renee Good suffered internal bleeding following the incident in Minneapolis.

The agent was identified as Jonathan Ross, according to two US officials familiar with his medical condition.

ICE Agent Injured After Shooting

Officials said the bleeding was located in the torso after the shooting that occurred last week.

At the time of official inquiries, the full extent of the internal bleeding was not known.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that Ross was injured during the incident.

The agency did not respond to requests from CBS News seeking further medical details.

Authorities indicated that information will be updated as new official details become available.

Videos shared from the scene showed Jonathan Ross walking away after the incident.

The footage did not clarify the immediate severity of his injuries.

A source said Ross has not returned to work since the shooting.

The source did not specify the reason for his continued absence.

Medical Condition and Official Account

Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, previously confirmed that authorities transported Jonathan Ross to a hospital following the shooting. Noem stated that doctors discharged the agent the same day.

According to the official, Ross was recovering from his injuries.

She described Ross as a veteran law enforcement officer.

Noem said Ross believed he was acting in self-defense and in defense of his colleagues.

“The agent was struck by the vehicle,” Noem told reporters on January 7.

“She hit him. He was taken to the hospital,” she added during the press appearance.

Noem explained that a doctor evaluated Jonathan Ross before approving his release.

Authorities have not detailed what treatment Ross received after leaving the hospital.

The Department of Homeland Security has not provided additional updates on his medical progress.

Nor has it clarified whether the internal bleeding was detected immediately or later.

Federal authorities have not specified whether the injury was directly caused by the vehicle impact.

So far, no additional official medical reports have been released.

Background and Recent Statements

Jonathan Ross is a veteran ICE officer with 10 years of experience.

In June, he was seriously injured in a separate incident in the Minneapolis area.

During that episode, he was dragged by a vehicle during an attempted arrest.

That incident resulted in injuries requiring 33 stitches.

He also needed hospital treatment, according to court records cited in the case.

Gregory Bovino, Chief of the Border Patrol, spoke about Ross’s situation on Sunday.

Bovino told CBS News that Ross has received multiple death threats.

“He is in a safe location,” Bovino said during the interview.

He added that the agent is recovering from his current injuries.

“We’re grateful that he is recovering,” Bovino stated.

Authorities did not specify the origin or content of the threats.

They also did not confirm whether the threats are directly related to the shooting.

So far, there is no confirmed timeline for Ross’s return to duty.

Investigations and official updates regarding the ICE agent internal bleeding remain ongoing.
