ICE arrest in New Jersey sparks outrage after operation
“We asked them about a warrant when they began to proceed to break the car window,” said Deborah Gómez.
The vehicle was blocked by other cars, one in front and one behind.
According to attorney Stephen Guice, there was no clear justification for breaking the glass.
The scene was captured in real time by the wife, generating immediate reactions.
“It feels inhumane to me, unjust, I am (…) very angry,” Deborah said after the detention.
The operation took place just after leaving the Cumberland County courthouse.

Deborah Gómez believes the ICE arrest New Jersey controversy is not an isolated incident.
She claims it is related to her work defending the undocumented community.
Deborah participates in an organization that supports migrants in southern New Jersey.
“It’s revenge, of course it is,” she said.

She also mentioned a previous incident involving her stepson.
“They took my stepson two months ago first,” she explained.
According to her account, agents asked the young man to contact his father.
“They told him call your father to come out and we will let you go,” she said.
Deborah believes her activism was a determining factor in the arrest.
“I was the reason they came for him,” she stated.
These statements have intensified debate over ICE practices.
ICE official response
Following the incident, N+ Univision 41 contacted ICE for comment.
The agency confirmed the arrest in a statement.
“ICE conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of Edgar Gómez Ramírez,” it said.
It also detailed the detainee’s immigration history.
“The individual has illegally entered the United States on three occasions,” the statement noted.
It added that he had previously been offered voluntary departure twice.
ICE also mentioned pending charges.
The statement says he faces accusations of assault with a vehicle.
For her part, the wife provided a different version of the legal case.
She said the recent process was related to driving under the influence.
“The judge told us that since it was his first offense, they would give him about a seven-month suspension,” she explained.
According to Deborah, after completing that period, the charge would be removed.
“After the seven months, once the PCA is completed, it would be erased from his record,” she added.
The contrast between both versions keeps the discussion about the case open.
