Federal authorities are carrying out an intense operation in Texas after the escape of two undocumented immigrants who fled Border Patrol custody.
The fugitives were identified as Juan Carmen Padrón Méndez, 29, and Juan Carlos Padrón Barrón, 23, both from Mexico.
The escape occurred on September 22 in Conroe, as they were being transported to the Montgomery Processing Center.
According to reports, one of the men managed to free himself from his restraints and strangled a Border Patrol officer.
Criticism of the Narrative Against Agents

Gabriel Martínez, acting director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Field Office, condemned the attack.
“It is outrageous that another law enforcement officer has suffered unnecessary harm as a direct result of the continued demonization of legitimate law enforcement activities,” he said.

The official stressed that hostile political and media rhetoric endangers those working in ICE, CBP, and Border Patrol.
“Every time they label brave men and women as Nazis or bounty hunters, they might as well paint a clear target on their backs,” he added.
Background of the Undocumented Immigrants Who Escaped
Both immigrants were detained in a multiagency operation against violent foreign criminals in the Spring, Texas, area.
According to ICE, such operations are part of the federal strategy to strengthen public safety in local communities.
Padrón Barrón has illegally entered the United States at least three times.
He was expelled on December 13, 2022, and January 1, 2023, while this is the first time authorities have intercepted Padrón Méndez.
Appeal to the Community
ICE activated a contact line to gather information about the fugitives’ whereabouts.
Citizens are asked to call 866-347-2423 or, from abroad, 001-1802-872-6199.
A digital form is also available on the agency’s official website to receive anonymous tips.
Authorities warned that the search will continue until the fugitives—considered a risk to public safety—are located.
