The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the murder of Mexican influencer Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, known on social media as Esmeralda FG, along with her husband and their two minor children.
The bodies were found on Friday, August 22, inside an abandoned SUV in the San Andrés neighborhood of Guadalajara, an event that has shocked both the local community and the digital world.
The victims were identified on Thursday, August 29, as Esmeralda, 32; her husband Roberto Carlos Gil Licea, 36; their son Gael Santiago, 13; and their daughter Regina, 7.
According to authorities, the family was originally from Michoacán and had recently moved to Jalisco, where the father was allegedly engaged in the buying and selling of vehicles.
The Discovery and Initial Investigation

The vehicle where the bodies were found had previously been seen at an auto repair shop, prompting authorities to search the premises.
Experts from the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences located ballistic evidence and bloodstains at the site, reinforcing the hypothesis that the family was killed there.

The Homicide Unit of the Prosecutor’s Office cross-checked C5 surveillance footage with intelligence from the National Guard and the State Security Secretariat.
The investigation is focusing on the family’s recent movements as well as the husband’s business activities, ruling out for now that Esmeralda’s digital profile was the main motive.
Esmeralda FG Was an Emerging Influencer on TikTok
Esmeralda FG managed a TikTok profile under the username @esmeraldafg222, with more than 18,000 followers and over half a million likes.
She began in 2020 with simple videos but soon shifted to a style associated with the so-called mujer buchona, showcasing luxury, travel, and high-end cars.
Some of her videos included controversial phrases such as “Advantages of having a narco boyfriend” and featured narcocorrido music, several of which alluded to criminal groups like the Beltrán Leyva.
Her last post, from August 7, had already surpassed 100,000 views, and other clips reached more than 600,000 views, positioning her as a rising creator, according to Aristegui Noticias.

Raid on the “La Araña” Workshop and New Leads
Following the discovery of the SUV, the Prosecutor’s Office raided the “La Araña” auto shop, where shell casings and traces of blood were found.
Deputy Prosecutor Alfonso Gutiérrez Santillán stated that agents were “almost 100% sure” the family was murdered there before being moved in the vehicle.
Two employees of the shop, identified as Héctor Manuel Valdivia Martínez and a man nicknamed “El Chino,” were detained for questioning.
However, due to insufficient evidence, both were released, though the story did not end there.
Disappearances After Testifying
According to outlets such as Infobae, after leaving the Prosecutor’s Office, Valdivia was intercepted by an armed group along with two other relatives.
The victims were identified as José Manuel Arredondo Roldán and Gary Omar Silva González, who remain missing.
Reports indicate that the man known as “El Chino” managed to escape the attack, adding yet another layer of tension to the case.
Authorities continue gathering evidence to determine those responsible and clarify whether the murders are directly linked to criminal activities in the region.
