The boxer from Sinaloa had been in the United States after participating on June 28 in a 10-round cruiserweight fight against Jake Paul.
The event, held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, ended in a unanimous decision loss for Chávez Jr.
Since then, sources say, U.S. authorities had been tracking his movements until his arrest.
The arrest took place days after the fight, in an operation involving the U.S. Marshals Service.
Although it has not been officially confirmed, there’s speculation that the deportation may be related to the revocation of his visa, though this version has not been corroborated.
