Authorities from Campeche’s Secretariat of Protection and Citizen Security detained César A. V., father of regional Mexican singer Julión Álvarez, along with three other men in the southern part of the state.

The operation took place in the 18 de Marzo-Sabancuy junction, municipality of Carmen, during a patrol and search following an anonymous report.

Authorities had received notice about a white truck with four armed men allegedly patrolling the area after leaving a nearby ranch.

Upon stopping the vehicle, security officers found several firearms among the occupants, according to El Universal.

Three pistols were seized: a 9 mm Beretta with three magazines and 18 rounds, a 9 mm Taurus with one magazine loaded with 17 rounds, and a .380 Pietro Beretta with two magazines loaded with 12 rounds each.

In addition, another occupant carried one more pistol, found at his waist during the search by authorities.

After the arrest, the four men were taken to the Escárcega sub-delegation of the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR) to be placed at the authorities’ disposal for carrying firearms restricted to the military and violating the Federal Firearms and Explosives Law. This development further amplified coverage of Julión Álvarez’s father arrested case.

It was revealed that Security Secretary Marcela Muñoz Martínez maintains a friendship with Julión Álvarez, and that the singer has shared several photos on social media from visits to Campeche.

Julión Álvarez, one of the leading figures in regional Mexican music, has faced restrictions on entering the United States over alleged ties to organized crime.

In August 2017, he was included on the U.S. Treasury Department’s list in connection with Raúl Flores Hernández, alias “El Tío,” who was under investigation for drug trafficking.

As a consequence, the singer saw his visa suspended, canceled performances in the United States, lost access to his official social media, and was removed from streaming platforms with agreements in that country.

Recent Restrictions and Issues for the Singer

Five years later, in 2022, U.S. authorities dropped the accusations and unfroze his bank accounts, allowing Julión Álvarez to recover his visa and resume some professional activities.

However, in 2024 he again faced restrictions when the U.S. government canceled his work permits and those of his musicians, preventing him from performing at a scheduled concert in Arlington, Texas.

The case of the singer’s father adds to the artist’s legal background and generates speculation about possible repercussions for the regional Mexican performer’s career.
