Kamala Harris typically keeps her personal life private, but this time, it was her Mexican cousin who shared details about their relationship.

Sharada, a literature professor, expressed: “I’m very proud of her. I still can’t believe it every day when I hear the news mentioning my cousin and her name.”

“We’ve spent a lot of time together… We’d meet for dinner, watch movies. Now she’s busier, but she still likes to cook, and we enjoy a glass of wine,” she said.

The Telemundo interview mentions that Sharada’s father is the brother of Kamala Harris’ mother.

Sharada lived with Kamala and her mother for a time while studying in California.

“She’s 18 years older than me, so I’m like her younger sister. She always wants me to call her ‘big sister’… She’s very protective, always giving me advice and checking on me,” Sharada explained.

She also revealed a fun fact about Kamala Harris, saying that each New Year’s, the candidate makes dozens of tamales: “She’s really good at them.”

The literature professor shared that their family achieved the American dream and that Kamala enjoys hearing about her life in Mexico. WATCH THE INTERVIEW HERE.
